 Gao Qian, known by his studio name "Yanyu Shanfang Master," was born in March 1975 in Wuchuan Autonomous County, Guizhou Province. He specializes in Chinese landscape painting as well as plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, chrysanthemums, lotus flowers, and ink shrimp. He is currently a National First-Class Artist, Vice President of the Guizhou Northern Calligraphy and Painting Association, a member of the China Artists Association, a Senior Member of the China International Craftsmen Association, a member of the China Cultural Artists Association, a member of Oriental Art Universe, and a member of the China Famous Artists Association. His work "Tide Flat, Broad Shores" has been collected by the Xiamen Museum and exhibited at the "2012 Cross-Strait Youth Calligraphers and Painters Exhibition." His piece "Upright and Unsoiled" was selected for the national touring exhibition "Inheriting the National Essence—Outstanding Calligraphy and Painting Works Enter Campuses," and was displayed across universities nationwide. Numerous works have been featured in renowned national media publications such as "China Artists & Writers" and "China Ink and Brush." His work "Bamboo Reports Peace and Harmony" has been collected by the Shenzhen Art Exhibition Center; multiple pieces have been included in the "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Encyclopedia," and several works have been exhibited in various exhibitions including the "'Guocui Cup' China's Top 500 Calligraphy and Painting Masters Exhibition." In June 2016, during the activities commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, his work "High Morals and Noble Character" won the Bronze Award in the Fourth National "China Dream Cup" Calligraphy and Painting Competition.  In December 2016, during the memorial event marking the 40th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong’s passing, his work "Great Fortune Ahead" won the Bronze Award in the First National "Homage to the Great Leader · Eternal Remembrance" Calligraphy and Painting Competition and was honored with the title of "China Red Artist." In January 2017, his work "The Clear Sound of Four Seasons’ Winds and Rains" won the Bronze Award in the First "Hanmo Shengshi Cup" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition. In March 2017, his work "Withered Tree, Bamboo, and Rocks" won the Silver Award in the First 2017 "Lanting Cup" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition. In May 2017, his work "A Solitary Boat Crosses the Whole Day" won the Silver Award in the "Danqing · Chinese Dream" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition.   His works are highly appreciated by collectors and art enthusiasts and have been collected by numerous renowned collectors and art institutions both domestically and internationally.
