Biography of Xu Shumei: Female, art name Heye, born in 1966 in Fushun, Liaoning, native place: Fuxian County, Dalian, Liaoning. Member of the Fushun Artists Association, Director of the Painting and Calligraphy Professional Committee of the Fushun Branch of the Liaoning Public Welfare Painters and Calligraphers Association, member of the Fushun Branch of the China Women's Academy of Painting, member of the Fushun Branch of the Liaoning Aesthetics Association. Graduated from the Packaging Design major at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1990, engaged in fine arts education, focusing on portrait drawing in pencil, watercolor painting instruction, frequently engaging in plein air sketching, quick sketches, landscapes, figures, and floral subjects, having created a large number of teaching materials and artworks. Her students have won awards in national and local competitions; all her students who took the social art level examinations organized by the China Academy of Art passed successfully; all her students who applied to national higher art academies were admitted. She has studied ink wash painting in the freehand style, including landscape, figure, and bird-and-flower subjects. In recent years, her freehand ink paintings of peonies have been highly popular, with many works collected; some of her early oil paintings have also been collected. She has participated in local art exhibitions, with several works receiving awards. Her artistic style combines realism with modernism, studying traditional Chinese painting theories alongside modern painting concepts.
