Zhang Guimin, a Manchu, styled Xialin, is the master of Jinshizhai. Born in Jinzhou in December 1954, he enlisted in December 1973 and holds a university degree, with the title of Professor-level Senior Political Work Specialist. He serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Painting and Calligraphy Volume of the Editorial Committee for the History of the People's Republic of China, a member of the Red Leaf Poetry Society of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a member of the China Couplet Society, and a member of the Chinese Poetry Society. He is a direct disciple of Wu Jiashuo, the renowned master of camel painting, and a second-generation disciple of Qi Baishi. He is recognized as a National First-Class Artist, a National Second-Class Martial Arts Judge, the third-generation inheritor of the Jiaomen Tan Tui Za Quan martial arts school, and the twenty-fifth-generation inheritor of the Wudang Sanfeng Orthodox Natural School martial arts. He is also Vice President of the Wudang Boxing Research Association. After enlisting in 1973, due to his talents in painting and calligraphy, he was transferred to the Political Department of his division to work in film publicity. He had the privilege of working in the same department as Song Yuguai, under whose influence he began studying traditional Chinese painting. He visited Song Yuguai’s home multiple times upon returning to Northeast China, receiving guidance and instruction in his unique techniques.
