Sun Entong, born in 1923 in Haicheng, Liaoning, of Manchu ethnicity. In 1946, he enrolled at Liaodong College to study Western painting; in 1948, he entered the Fine Arts Department of Northeastern University; in 1950, he became a graduate student in the Fine Arts Department of Lu Xun Academy of Arts (now Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts). After graduation, he remained at the academy as a faculty member to this day. In the early 1960s, he furthered his studies at the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting, studying under masters such as Fu Baoshi and Qian Songyan. He is currently a professor at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, a member of the China Artists Association, Honorary President of the Tongze Academy of Chinese Painting, Honorary President of the Liaoning Society for Chinese Painting Research, and a researcher at the Liaoning Provincial Government Institute of History and Literature. He is one of the founders and most representative artists of the Guandong School of Painting. For over half a century, numerous Chinese ink paintings, represented by "Yiman's Cottage," have been selected multiple times for national exhibitions such as the National Art Exhibition, winning awards, being included in art anthologies, or widely collected. He has published multiple textbooks and large-scale art collections, including "Chinese Landscape Painting Tutorial," and his artistic biography has been included in various reference works and dictionaries.
