He Bo, male, artistic name Bingyun, was born in February 1949 in Xiaoyingzi Village, Gaizhou, Liaoning Province, on the eastern shore of the Bohai Bay. After serving 13 years in the military, he graduated from the Harbin Academy of Literature. Proficient in painting, well-versed in music, and devoted to literary study, he currently resides in Hangzhou. For a long time, he has drawn deeply from tradition while absorbing modern influences, successfully experimenting with the integration of Chinese and Western painting techniques. In addition to excelling in landscape painting, he is especially skilled in depicting horses, having invented a deconstruction method that has formed his unique symbolic style of horse painting. Mr. He Bo has won numerous domestic and international awards; his works “Nocturne,” “Spiritual Illusion,” “Eastern Divine Steed,” “Clouds Rising, Dragons Roaring,” and “Wind Spirit Enters the Painting” have each been awarded the Gold Prize of the Ministry of Culture’s Wenhua Award for Best Creation, the Gold Prize for Innovation Achievements on the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, the Gold Prize of the China-U.S. International Art Masters & Masterpieces Exhibition, and the Gold Prize of the International Golden Horse Award. He has participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and internationally, and held a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing in 1993. He has also held exhibitions and conducted artistic exchanges in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Switzerland. He has published several collections, including “Collection of He Bo’s Calligraphy and Painting,” “Series of Prose by the Painter,” “He Bo’s Calligraphy and Painting Collection,” “Bingyun’s Painting Collection: Eastern Divine Steed,” and poetry collection “Wandering Above the Clouds.” His name has been included in numerous prominent biographical dictionaries both domestically and abroad, and he has been featured in the National Gift Collection published by the National Gift Publishing House. He is currently a Senior Art Master, First-Class Art Master, Honorary Chairman of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, Honorary Chairman of the World Association of Cultural Arts, Member of the China Artists Association, Vice President of the China International Academy of Painting, Honorary President and Guest Professor of the China Famous Artists Calligraphy and Painting Academy. His ink painting “Ink Dance: Divine Steed” has been collected by the Administration Bureau of the Great Hall of the People.
