Lv Guoqing (October 1959), also known as Zishi, is from Shenyang, Liaoning, China. He is a contemporary Chinese painter, a National First-Class Artist, and a Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity. He serves as the Art Director of China Network Television.Since childhood, he has been passionate about painting. In his early years, he studied under Master Dong Changqing, a disciple of Qi Baishi, and received authentic instruction from the master. He regards Qi Baishi’s saying, “Toilfully exchanging fleeting time for artistic enlightenment, mastery emerges naturally,” as profound truth. He excels in depicting flowers, birds, insects, fish, and figures, with mature brushwork, vibrant colors, simplified forms, and humble artistic conception. His colorful shrimps, insects, and crabs are delightfully lively, earning him the title of “China’s No. 1 Colorful Shrimp Painter.” He is now one of the leading figures among the second-generation disciples of Qi Baishi.
He currently holds positions including Director of the Second-Generation Disciples Art Center of Qi Baishi, President of the Academy of Famous Artists’ Calligraphy and Painting, Director of the Northeast Institute of Calligraphy and Painting at the China Academy of Famous Artists’ Calligraphy and Painting, and Chairman of the Public Welfare Alliance of Calligraphy and Painting Artists. In 2015, he first proposed the “Culture and Industry Alliance of the China Academy of Famous Artists’ Calligraphy and Painting” in Beijing, rapidly promoting it nationwide and establishing the cultural institution of the China Academy of Famous Artists’ Calligraphy and Painting Culture and Industry Alliance. He has also devoted himself to public welfare causes, achieving substantial progress over the years.
In 2013, awarded the Title of Advanced Individual for Achievements in Corporate Cultural Construction for the Liaoning Province’s Celebration of the National Games.
In 2014, won the Gold Medal at the August 1st Army Day Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition.
In 2017, his work “Dragon Soaring” exhibited at the Shenyang Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition on Baidu won the First Prize and the Special Contribution Award.
In 2018, the Ministry of Culture assigned him a market valuation of RMB 56,000 per square chi.
In 2018, won the First Prize at the First Dajinghua Cup Calligraphy and Painting Public Welfare Competition, and was awarded the Highest Leadership Award.
In 2018, his calligraphy and painting work was selected as the sole national gift from Liaoning Province presented to Japanese leaders and permanently collected by a Japanese museum.
