Xia Mingsheng, art name: Xia Zhong, pseudonym: Wu Ling Jushi, was born in July 1963 in Jingdezhen, ancestral home: Jiangxi Xinchang. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, earning a Bachelor's degree in Art. He is a Senior Technician of Jiangxi Province, a National First-Class Painter, a Jiangxi Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts, a Senior Master of Arts and Crafts of Jingdezhen City, a member of the China Arts and Crafts Society, and a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Society. He serves as Director of the Art Research Institute at Jingdezhen Hongguang Porcelain Factory, Director of the Creation Room at the Ceramic Art Research Institute of Jingdezhen Art Porcelain Factory, Senior Painter at Zhushan Painting and Calligraphy Academy of Jingdezhen, Senior Painter at the Modern Ceramic Research Institute of Jingdezhen, and a member of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Artists Association. In 1986, Xia Mingsheng founded "Wuchunxuan" and has devoted decades to the research and creative design of ceramic art. His paper "To Paint 'Poetry with Form,' One Must Read 'Painting without Form'" was published in the Jiangxi Painting Magazine in September 2011. His work "Heavenly Fragrance and National Beauty" won the First Prize in the 1997 Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Masters Competition Celebrating Hong Kong's Return. His work "Flowers Bloom in Wealth and Honor" received the Gold Award at the Second China Arts and Crafts Masters Works and Fine Arts Expo held during the 2001 Hangzhou West Lake Expo. His work "Birdsong and Flower Fragrance" won the Gold Award at the 2002 China National Painting and Arts and Crafts Masters Fine Arts Exhibition. His painting "Peony Diagram" was awarded the Gold Award in the Guangzhou 2008 "Peace Forever" International Celebrity Calligraphy, Painting, and Craftworks Exhibition. His work "Spring Fills Yunling" won the "Zhushan Cup" Gold Award in the "Singing the World Expo: National Art Talent TV and Network Evaluation Activity." His set of 200 pieces of the porcelain vase "Flowers Bloom in Wealth and Honor," after expert evaluation, won the Gold Award at the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games exhibition "Shanghai Silk Road—Jingdezhen Millennium Ceramic Culture Exhibition." In 2012, his enamel-overglaze decoration piece "Golden Jade Full Hall" won the Gold Award in the Art Category of Jingdezhen’s First "Zijing Cup" Fine Ceramics Competition. His work "Birdsong and Flower Fragrance" was collected by the Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Museum in July 2012. His work "Early Spring," in a 150-piece edition, sold for RMB 19,000 at a Chinese Children's Charity Auction. His work "Full Garden of Spring Colors" received the Silver Award at the 2012 China (Hangzhou) Arts and Crafts Fine Products Expo. His work "Wealth and Honor Fill the Hall" won the Gold Award at the 2012 Dalian Autumn Tea and Purple Clay Ceramic Craft Expo "Xinghai Cup" Competition. His work "Birdsong and Flower Fragrance" won the Excellent Work Award at the 9th China (Changchun) Folk Art Expo in 2015.
