Personal Profile
Wu Yang, courtesy name Caixi, was born in 1987 in Yichun, Jiangxi, China. He is a Chinese folk artist and a contemporary young ink painter with tremendous potential.
Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about painting. His father is a master of seal carving. Influenced by his family environment, Wu Yang exhibited strong artistic talent and received basic instruction in painting from his mentors. Growing up in such a rich cultural atmosphere, he was nurtured by the traditions of Chinese culture. Yet life offered him no other path: he struggled through challenges and transcendence, moving from school to business, then from factory work to the artistic path. Wherever he went, his passion for painting never waned. Art became a sacred sanctuary, and he walked its path like a devoted pilgrim. Through practice comes true knowledge: due to his professional connections, he met several renowned painters and humbly sought their guidance on difficulties encountered in painting, significantly elevating his skill. For over a decade, under any circumstances, Wu Yang never put down his brush or left behind his ink and color palette. Having embarked on the path of painting, life also granted him new opportunities—he persevered through trials and transcendence, steadily refining his technique.
Since entering the market, his works have consistently won favor among collectors. Several pieces have been custom-commissioned and privately collected. In 2010, his ink painting “Mountain Village” was collected by an international friend from Mozambique. In 2015, his ink painting “Roar Through the Clouds” was collected by an international friend from Mozambique.
