Chen Yu, born in 1973, styled Zai Xiong, art name Dong Wang, pen names Da Shi and Yi Liao Shanren. Born into a distinguished family of scholars, he has a moderate command of poetry, painting, calligraphy, and seal carving, with slight familiarity with Western techniques. Today, he is neither affiliated with any association nor part of any group, faction, school, or lineage; he enjoys modest fame but shuns superficial glamour, indulges in ink and color while extensively exploring the arts, treats brushes as precious, and reveres paper and walls. Over several decades, his mural works have been displayed across China and Southeast Asia, with the number of murals ranking first in the field, earning him the titles of "Jiangxi's Number One Muralist" and "The Brush of Jiangnan."
