Tong Xiaoming, art name Chen Guang, pen name Jie Hui, master of Guyun Painting and Calligraphy Studio, is from Yushan, Jiangxi. Born in 1965, he graduated from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Design at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. A member of the Nine-Third Society, he is currently a member of the China Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, the China Poetry Association, a Senior Excellent Photographer of China, a member of the Jiangxi Poetry Society, the Jiangxi Artists Association, the Jiangxi Calligraphers Association, the Jiangxi Society of Arts and Crafts, the Jiangxi Folk Literature and Art Association, the Jiangxi Fang Zhimin Research Society, the Jiangxi Writers Association, a council member of the Shangrao Folk Literature and Art Association, a council member of the Shangrao Poetry Society, a member of the Xijiang Literary Creation and Research Association, a member of Panzhou Seal Society, Deputy Director of the Shangrao Station of “Friends of Poetry,” and a correspondent for the Gan East Station of “China Tourism Photography Daily.” Sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Yushan County Committee: Director and Legal Representative of the Yushan Sanqing Art Garden Research Institute; Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Board of “Sanqing Art Garden” Magazine, hosted by the Yushan County Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, New Media and Tourism. Engaged in cultural publicity, advertising design, corporate planning, arts and crafts (painting signs), carbon carving gift production. Specialized in seal carving, painting and calligraphy creation, picture framing, fond of photography, literature and poetry, folk paper-cutting, collecting and organizing folk legends. His artistic works have been published on national and provincial websites and in art albums. Below are some selected published artworks. Calligraphy Works: Participated in the “Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up” and its accompanying album (June 2019); Selected for the “China Calligraphy Cup” and awarded Silver Medal; Included in the collection “Masterpieces of Calligraphy” by the China Calligraphy Academy (October 2018). Participated in the Hong Kong “Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan” and its accompanying album (November 2015). Calligraphy and poetry included in the album “Lianyun Jinqiu” of the 9th Autumn Brush Meeting in Nanchang, China under the theme “Putting Discipline First” (December 2015). Fine Art Works: The oil painting “For the Lovely China” was selected among the top 150 outstanding creative entries in Jiangxi Province’s Major Theme Fine Art Creation Project 2016–2017, listed as No. 56 and published online (June 28, 2016). Pastel artwork selected and included in the album “Jiangxi Watercolor and Pastel Artworks” (November 2015). Seal Carving Works: Selected for the collection of the National “First ‘Wanyinlou Award’ International Seal Carving Competition and Invitation Exhibition of Master Seal Carvers,” and permanently collected by the Wanyinlou Museum in Shandong (2014). Participated in the “Tengwang Pavilion Cup” 10th Nanchang Literature and Art Grand Prize Competition – Seal Carving Section, awarded Second Prize, with work featured in the competition album (June 18, 2014). Poetry Works: Poems including “Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up” were selected for the Japanese poetry anthology “Yuefeng Shitong” in Sino-Japanese Cultural Exchange (September 2018). Poems on “Commemorating Dr. Morohashi Tetsuji” for Sino-Japanese cultural exchange were selected for the Japanese poetry anthology “Yuefeng Shitong” (November 2015). The poem “Beautiful Yushan” was published in the nationally registered journal “Friends of Poetry,” Issue 6, Total No. 83 (2016); Issue 3, Total No. 86 (2017). Poetry selected for the “Tengwang Pavilion Cup” Jiangxi Provincial Collection (November 2015). Photography Works: “China’s Sanqing Mountain” photographic series (landscape playing cards), comprising 108 photographs, won the “Excellent Award” at the 5th China International Patent Expo and the “China Outstanding Industrial Design Patent” award (September 2008). The works were published in the national newspaper “China Intellectual Property” and the monthly magazine “China Intellectual Property,” and displayed on authoritative domestic intellectual property websites. The photographer was rated “Outstanding Contemporary Chinese Photographer” (December 17, 2008). Published in “China Tourism Photography Daily”: “Goddess Guanyin Delivering a Child,” “Goddess Guanyin Crossing South,” “Rivaling the Sky,” and “Spring Goddess” — Issue 84 (June 15, 2013); Issue 93 (June 15, 2013); Issue 95 (May 15, 2014). Paper-Cutting Works: Paper-cutting works “Portrait Commemorating the 120th Anniversary of Mao Zedong’s Birth,” “Beautiful Yushan,” “Magnificent Peaks of Sanqing Mountain,” and “Goddess Peak of Sanqing Mountain” were exhibited at the Fifth “Shenzhou Fengyun” National Paper-Cutting Competition under the theme “Beautiful China.” Received the Jiangxi Provincial Collective Excellence Award (May 2013). Artistic Carving Works: Carbon sculpture “Giant Snake Emerging from the Mountain” was exhibited at the “China Poyang Lake International Ecological Culture Festival Art Exhibition,” awarded Silver Medal, and permanently collected by the Jiangxi Arts and Crafts Art Museum. An official online column titled “Artist Tong Xiaoming” in arts and crafts was published (November 2010). Stone sculpture “Chinese Seal Dragon-and-Feng Yan Inkstone” won the Bronze Medal at the Jiangxi Arts and Crafts Competition commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China (July 2011). Design Works: Overall planning and design of the memorial hall: Comprehensive planning and design of the Tanjiaqiao Memorial Hall in Huangshan City, Anhui Province. In May 2010, invited by Director Luo Wentian, completed full exhibition planning and image processing for the “Northern Expedition Vanguard Memorial Hall” and the “Su Yu Memorial Hall”; both exhibitions were successfully completed and received high praise from General Su Rongsheng, son of General Su Yu, and Deputy Commander of the Beijing Military Region, Beijing (July 2010). Architectural Exterior Design: In March 2002, designed the architectural exterior rendering of the southern gate of Yushan No.1 High School along the riverside road. Arts and Crafts Carving Design: In March 2011, invited by former Yushan County Standing Deputy County Magistrate Rao Qinghua, designed a screen wall for the administrative center hall with a theme of Sanqing Mountain scenery — the large wood carving design titled “Splendid Scenery of Sanqing.” The carving work was executed by Master Fang Dacheng from Dongyang, Zhejiang, and is now installed in the main hall of the Yushan County Administrative Center (May 2011). Comic Strip Creation and Design: Designed a comic strip titled “Procedure for Rural Medical Insurance Enrollment and Reimbursement” for the Yushan County Agricultural Health Bureau to facilitate public understanding; promotional boards based on this comic were displayed in hospitals and health centers across all townships in the county (March 2007).
