Personal Profile
Yu Jun graduated with a Master's degree from the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. He is currently a member of the China Calligraphers Association and a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Artists Association. Since 2002, he has served as a judge for the CCTV Art Academy National Youth Painting and Calligraphy Competition, the "Mo Cai Cup." He is currently teaching at the Art College of a certain university. An education expert from a family of artists, his grandfather, Yu Shixiao, was affiliated with the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum, and he studied calligraphy under his father while serving in the military. Influenced by his family background, he embarked on a career in painting and calligraphy, boldly experimenting with all forms: Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, meticulous-style painting, watercolor, ceramic painting, enamel painting, and calligraphy in five script styles—particularly excelling in running-cursive and clerical scripts, which possess a distinctive charm. During his military service, he was selected by Senior Artist Ran Maokui of the Navy, under whom he studied oil painting and printmaking in his studio, receiving five years of advanced training that laid a solid foundation. He further benefited from guidance by Ouyang Zhongshi and A Lao during his calligraphy training at the PLA Art Academy. On his artistic journey, he is like a wild horse galloping freely—his style alternates between boldness and delicacy. In university art education, he advocates tradition while striving for innovation.
