Xia Mingsheng, art name: Xia Zhong, style name: Wuling Jushi, was born in July 1963 in Jingdezhen, with ancestral roots in Xinjian, Jiangxi. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is a Senior Technician of Jiangxi Province, a National First-Class Painter, a Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Artist, a Senior Arts and Crafts Artist of Jingdezhen City, a member of the China Arts and Crafts Artists Association, and a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Society. He serves as Director of the Art & Research Institute at Hongguang Porcelain Factory in Jingdezhen, Director of the Creation Studio at the Ceramics Fine Arts Research Institute of Jingdezhen Art Porcelain Factory, Senior Painter at Zhushan Painting and Calligraphy Academy in Jingdezhen, Senior Painter at Jingdezhen Modern Ceramics Research Institute, and member of the Jingdezhen Ceramics Artists Association.
In 1986, Xia Mingsheng founded "Wuchunxuan," devoting decades to ceramic art research, design, and creation. His paper titled "To Paint 'Poetry with Form,' One Must Read 'Paintings without Form'" was published in Jiangxi Pictorial in September 2011. His work "National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance" won the first prize at the 1997 Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Masters Competition celebrating the return of Hong Kong. His piece "Flowers Bloom for Prosperity" received the Gold Award at the 2nd China Arts and Crafts Masters and Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibition during the 2001 Hangzhou West Lake Expo. His artwork "Birds Singing and Flowers Blooming" won the Gold Award at the 2002 Chinese Traditional Painting and Arts and Crafts Masterpieces Exhibition. The work "Peony Painting" was awarded the Gold Prize at Guangzhou's 2008 "Long Live Peace" China International Celebrity Fine Arts and Craftworks Exhibition. The piece "Spring Fills Yunling" won the Gold Award in the ceramics and calligraphy-painting art category of the "Changxuan World Expo National Literary Talent Television and Online Evaluation Activity" under the "Zhushan Cup." A 200-piece porcelain vase titled "Flowers Bloom for Prosperity" was honored with the Gold Award at the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games "Silk Road Shanghai—A Thousand-Year Porcelain Culture Exhibition of Jingdezhen." In 2012, his overglaze-decorated porcelain panel "Golden Hall Full of Wealth" won the Gold Award in the artistic category at Jingdezhen's first "Zijing Cup" Fine Ceramics Competition. His work "Birds Singing and Flowers Blooming" was collected by the Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Art Gallery in July 2012. His 150-piece artwork "Early Spring" was sold for 19,000 RMB at a charity auction for Chinese children. His piece "Spring Fills the Garden" won the Silver Award at the 2012 China (Hangzhou) Fine Arts and Crafts Exposition. His work "Prosperity Fills the Hall" won the Gold Award at the 2012 Dalian Autumn Tea and Purple Clay Ceramics Craftworks Exhibition's "Xinghai Cup" competition. His artwork "Birds Singing and Flowers Blooming" won the Outstanding Work Award at the 9th China (Changchun) Folk Art Exposition in 2015.
