      Shi Guoqing was born in November 1970. His secular name is Fu Qingxun; his occupation is abbot and calligrapher-painter; his educational background is a Master's degree in Fine Arts. His dharma name is Shang Guo, Xia Qing, and his followers refer to him as Venerable Shi Guoqing. He is from Anhui Province, China. At the age of seven, he began diligently studying and practicing calligraphy and painting under the influence of his family and guidance from renowned masters. In his childhood, he trained in martial arts at the Shaolin Temple in Songshan, Henan, and was deeply influenced by Buddhist teachings. In 1983, he was ordained as a monk by Venerable Hui Kai at Qiyuan Temple on Jiuhua Mountain. In 2000, he was invited to serve as abbot of Jingtu Temple in the Economic and Technological Development Zone of Nanchang City. In 2014, he made a vow to initiate and oversee the reconstruction of Laojuntan Foguang Temple.He has established more than 40 Buddhist centers across China and founded art galleries, calligraphy and painting academies, and Buddhist missionary institutions. He served as head of the Shaolin Temple Monks Corps and led the Chinese Shaolin Temple Monks Corps on overseas tours to more than ten countries.
