Personal Profile
Zhang Changjun, art name Nongmin, was born in 1979 on Poyang Lake, Jiangxi. In 1996, he entered the Chinese Painting Department of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, and graduated from Jingdezhen University of Ceramic Art and Design in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in ceramic art design.
First-class Ceramic Art Master of Heilongjiang Province, Jiangxi Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts, Senior Artisan (State Level One), China Senior Technician (State Level One), Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Master. Member of the China Academy of Calligraphy and Painting. Visiting Professor, Department of Fine Arts, Science and Technology College, Jiangxi Aeronautics University; Member of the China Arts and Crafts Association, Jiangxi Arts and Crafts Society, Jiangxi Artists Association, Member of the Zhushan District Committee of the CPPCC in Jingdezhen, Deputy Secretary-General of Fuliang Painting Academy, Chief Planner of the Jingdezhen Art Ceramic Research and Exchange Center, Specialized Painter of Northeast Liahe Painting Academy, Chief Designer of the Jingdezhen Nongmin Ceramic Art Center. In 2014, he invented a new type of ceramic oil painting material and founded the Nongming Ceramic Oil Painting Research Institute. In 2015, he founded "Yi Guan" by Nongmin. He studied under renowned Chinese artists including Wang Shoulin, a master of Chinese fine arts, Chinese poetics, contemporary sinologist, poet, calligrapher, painter, and National Ceramic Art Master; Wang Xiliang, Qiu Han, Xia Ying of China Arts and Crafts; Pan Kaisheng, Jiangxi Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts; as well as painters Liu Shouxian, Liu Tiequan, and Hu Zetao. After more than twenty years of artistic cultivation and guidance from masters and experts, he has developed his own unique style, particularly expressing another dimension of Poyang Lake's landscapes and folk customs through the distinctive language of ceramics, especially in depictions of domestic fowl. He leads the field in new-material ceramic oil paintings, expanding new expressive techniques and languages in ceramic art. Award-winning works over the years: 1999.12 "Flowers and Birds" won the Bronze Award in the "Macau Reversion" Calligraphy Competition. 2009.12 "Longevity" won the Second Prize in the "Welcome New Village Ice and Snow Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition" in Xiangfang, Harbin. 2012 Fourth China (Shandong) "Lu Yu Gongfang Cup" New Talent Award in Arts and Crafts — Gold Medal. 2012.10 "Great Fortune and Prosperity" won the Gold Medal at the Second Shandong Heze Art Festival "Jun Tao Cup". 2012.12 "Childhood Memories" was collected by the Jiangxi Art Museum. 2013 "Childhood Memories" won the Silver Award for Outstanding Works in Jiangxi Arts and Crafts for the Spring Festival. 2013.10 "Celebrating Longevity" won the Bronze Award at the Third Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts "Dujuan Cup". 2014 New-type Ceramic Oil Painting "Rhythm of the Forest" (five-foot-six-inch porcelain panel) won the Bronze "Earth Award". 2014.3 "Unity and Harmony" was collected by the Hebei Provincial Art Museum. 2014.6 "Yaoli Scenery" was first registered for copyright ownership of the new-type ceramic oil painting material. 2014.9 "Sail" (high-temperature ceramic oil painting porcelain panel) was collected by the Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Museum. 2014.12 Awarded the honor of Fourth Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Master. 2015.7 "Zhu Mountain Visit to Friends" was collected by the Jiangxi Provincial Museum. 2015.8 "Evening Return" (new-type ceramic oil painting material) won the Excellent Work Award at the 9th China (Changchun) Folk Art Expo. 2016.3 "Yaoli Scenery" won the Silver Award at the Jingdezhen "Tang Ying Cup" Hundred Flowers Award. 2016.7 "Wondrous View of Jiangnan" (underglaze blue-and-white ink-wash landscape) was collected by the Chinese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. 2017.4 Appointed as Special Professor of the Fine Arts Design Major, Science and Technology College, Jiangxi Nanchang Aeronautics University.
