Chen Yu, born in 1973, styled Zai Xiong, art name Dong Wang, pen names Da Shi and Yi Liao Shan Ren. Born into a distinguished family of scholars, he has a modest command of poetry, painting, calligraphy, and seal carving, with slight familiarity with Western techniques. Today, he is neither affiliated with any association nor part of any group, faction, school, or lineage; he holds only a faint reputation but shuns vanity, immersed in ink and color while extensively exploring the arts, devoted to his brush and reverent toward paper and walls. Over the decades, his mural works have spread across the entire country and Southeast Asia, with a number of murals unmatched in the industry, earning him the title of "Jiangxi's Number One Muralist" and "The Brush of Jiangnan." His fusion of Chinese and Western techniques in ink wash painting is an innovation unprecedented in China's mural art scene, making him a leading figure in Chinese mural art.Chen Yu currently holds the following positions:Village Chief of Lushan Painters' Village;Director of the Staff Calligraphy and Painting Academy of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province;President of Lushan Painting Society;Member of the Art Committee of Jiangnan Metropolis Daily;Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiujiang Municipal Political Consultative Conference Calligraphy and Painting Association;Professor of Fine Arts at Quanzhou Agricultural School, Fujian.
