Huang Wei, originally named Huang Wei, male, born in February 1966, styled Zhilanxuan zhuren, a native of Fenyi, Jiangxi.

Currently:

Former Chairman of Fenyi County Calligraphers Association
Leader of Huang Wei Calligraphy Culture Master Studio

Since first encountering calligraphy in 1985, he has persistently studied for over 30 years, and enjoys composing couplets and poetry for personal enjoyment. He has practiced various styles: regular script from Liu Gongquan's "Xuanmi Pagoda", Ouyang Xun's "Jiucheng Palace", Yan Zhenqing's "Qinli Stele" and "Maugu Xiantan Ji"; small regular script from Wang Xizhi's "Yueyi Lun", "Huangting Jing", Chu Suiliang's "Yanta Holy Teaching Preface", Fu Shan's "Diamond Sutra", Wen Zhengming's "Lisao Jing"; running script mainly studying Wang, Mi, Zhao, Dong and others; Wei stele script from "Zhang Menglong Stele", "Shipinggong Statue Inscription", "Li Bi Tomb Inscription"; clerical script from "Yiying Stele", "Zhang Qian Stele", Han bamboo slips; cursive script from Huaisu's small cursive "Thousand Character Classic", "Autobiography Scroll", Sun Guoting's "Shupu", Huang Tingjian's "Zhushangzuo Scroll", etc.

In the 1990s, he won excellent and third prizes more than ten times in national hard pen and brush calligraphy competitions such as the "Aiwo Zhonghua Cup", "Shimen Cup", "Tianma Cup", "Jinlong Cup", "Minzu Cup", and provincial contests like the "70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Party Cup" and "Ode to Lei Feng Cup". His works and biography were included in the "Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphers" in 1992, and his brush calligraphy was collected by the Jilin Library the same year. However, for the past two decades, busy with work, he has not participated in competitions, merely practicing daily for self-cultivation!

In recent years, with work easing up, he has resumed intensive study and practice of regular, running, Wei, clerical, and cursive scripts, spending several hours each day writing on water-absorbing paper without interruption. Due to comprehensive practice across styles, his spontaneous brushwork now transcends any single tradition. His regular, running, Wei, clerical, and cursive scripts all transform ancient models into something new, forming a unique personal style. His works have been collected by institutions including the Jilin Library, Fu Baoshi Memorial Hall, Yangtze River Civilization Museum, Xi'an Beilin Museum, Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor Museum, and Zhaoling Museum.
