Personal Profile

Wang Guiqi, male, born in 1965, is from Zaozhuang, Shandong; he enlisted in 1983 in the General Staff Force in Beijing, and graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the PLA Academy of Arts. In 1998, he left military service and is now a member of the China Calligraphers Association, the China Collection Association of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, the China Couplet Association, and a council member of the Zaozhuang Oil Painters Association. He served in the military for 15 years, primarily engaged in political propaganda work; his calligraphy and painting works have been exhibited numerous times both within and outside the military and published in major newspapers and periodicals. While in Beijing, he successively studied under Liu Bingsen, Liu Dawei, and Ouyang Zhongshi, and later met renowned contemporary Chinese calligraphers such as Wei Tianchi, Sun Xiaoyun, Shen Peng, Zhang Hai, and Xia Xiangping, learning from multiple masters and gradually refining his distinctive calligraphic style. In recent years, his calligraphy has deeply resonated with the public, being selected multiple times for national and regional exhibitions, broadcast on the CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Channel, and frequently presented by the Zaozhuang Municipal Government and the Overseas Chinese Federation as gifts to foreign friends. His works have been selected seven times by "China Post" for inclusion in exquisite stamp and postcard collections. He has been specially appointed as an Art Consultant by Canada's "America TV Network." In 2019, he won the Grand Prize in CCTV's large-scale painting and calligraphy competition "I Love China." Particularly noteworthy is that in April 2018, his works "Fu Lu Xiang Zhen" and "Aspirations Like the Wild Goose, Graceful Outside and Wise Within" were specially collected by the "Chinese Art and Culture Association" of Jiangsu Province and delivered in person to former KMT Chairman Ma Ying-jeou and Hung Hsiu-chu in Taiwan for their private collection, receiving high acclaim and exerting profound influence, making a meaningful contribution to the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait! His oil paintings are accurately rendered and demonstrate profound technical skill; although recently overshadowed by his calligraphic achievements, he has not ceased striving for progress! He is truly a dedicated practitioner of art—a diligent and devoted painter and calligrapher!
