Liu Qingyu

Liu Qingyu, male, Han ethnicity, born in April 1947, is from Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. With a university education, he once worked in the Pengshui mountainous area. He has served as section chief, county party secretary, regional publicity director, member of the regional party committee, chairman of the regional social science federation, chairman of the cultural federation, and deputy secretary of the regional party committee. At that time, he was the party secretary of Fuling City. He is fond of philosophy, poetry, and calligraphy. He has successively served as the party secretary of Dian County, member of the Fuling regional party committee, publicity director, deputy secretary of the Fuling regional party committee, deputy secretary of the city party committee, vice president of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and president of Chongqing Cultural Assets Company. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Board of Directors of the China Calligraphers Association, chairman of the Chongqing Calligraphers Association, honorary chairman of the Chongqing Press Association, and honorary president of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's Painting and Calligraphy Academy. In his spare time, he has persisted in the study and research of calligraphy for decades. He is skilled in various calligraphy styles, and has a deep understanding of the "Xixia Stele", "Li Qi Stele" and "Shimen Stele" in the cursive script. His cursive script creation forms a unique beauty of breadth, quietness, and orderly irregularity by integrating the strengths of the above masters. His running and cursive scripts, due to his use of long brushes, demonstrate an artistic effect of spontaneous creation. Specifically, the dots and strokes are lively, the brushwork is strong, the layout is complex yet well-arranged, especially with a lot of rhythmical beauty. In addition to calligraphy, he has also devoted himself to the study and creation of landscape painting and has gained many insights.
