Personal Profile

Ge Yehua, also known as Suizhang Tang, is from Yixing, Jiangsu. He is skilled in large-scale free-style flower painting, especially peonies. His calligraphy is influenced by the Stone Drum Script and he is particularly good at small seal script.He is currently a member of the Jiangsu Branch of the China Artists Association, a member of the Jiangsu Branch of the China Calligraphers Association,member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association,deputy director of the Yixing Institute of Chinese Painting, a senior art specialist, vice president of the Yixing Bird and Flower Society,editor-in-chief of the Yixing Art News.Ge Yehua was born in 1961 in Yixing, Jiangsu, into a family of ceramic artists. In his early years, he worked as an artist in the Dingshan Cultural Center of the Yixing Cultural Bureau, and later studied at the Nanjing University of the Arts, where he learned figure painting under the guidance of Wang Mengqi, and Western painting under the instruction of teachers such as Shao Jiasheng and Xu Rusheng. Later, influenced by painters Wu Guanzhong and Zhang Zhi'an, he changed to studying Chinese painting, focusing on large-scale free-style flower painting and also learning calligraphy, emphasizing the Stone Drum Script. His painting studies include Wu Changshuo and Ren Bonian, while his calligraphy studies cover the Stone Drum, Taishan Inscriptions, and Shimen Pronouncement, and his study of cursive script includes Jin Nong and Wu Changshuo. Due to his long-term engagement in artistic work, he has also received careful instruction and teaching from renowned painters such as Tang Yun, Wu Guanzhong, and Cheng Dalì.His calligraphy and painting works have been included in many national calligraphy and painting exhibitions and invited exhibitions organized by the China Artists Association and the China Calligraphers Association. He has also successfully held individual and group exhibitions, and his works are featured in many national collections and included in several famous publications.
