Wang Jie

Wang Jie
Personal Profile
Wang Jie, from Nanjing, Jiangsu, is currently the Vice President of the National Treasure Chinese Painting Academy, a member of the Jiangsu Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, an affiliated artist of the China Modern Art Network, and a member of the Nanjing Artists Association. Among the nine leisurely painters of Jinling, Wang Jie is the youngest, ranked as the ninth, but due to his long white beard, he humorously says he looks the oldest. After joining the Jinling Nine Leisurely Painters and participating in multiple calligraphy and painting activities, he finally caught people's attention, surprising everyone that there was such a master of landscape painting in Nanjing. Those who have remained quiet for many years in Nanjing, not disturbed by noise, and have devoted themselves to creation with remarkable achievements, are few, and Wang Jie is one of them. Wang Jie said, "I just want to find a quiet place to write and paint, without chasing fame and fortune. I had carefully considered before deciding to join the Jinling Nine Leisurely Painters, and indeed, it has taken away my tranquility overnight, with more uninvited guests coming to my door." Wang Jie's first job was geological exploration, spending over six years pounding in deep mountains and forests, amazed by the divine craftsmanship of nature, he then resolutely quit his job, picked up his beloved brush, and entered the world of landscape painting. Since then, over thirty years have passed, he has been hiding in Jinling, little known to others, occasionally traveling through the mountains and rivers of the motherland, then returning home with thick sketchbooks to create quietly and study calligraphy and painting. Mr. Wang Jie's paintings are not mere copies of landscapes; he has experienced the scenery he portrays deeply, seen it with his own eyes, and the thoughts in his heart are endless. His paintings are filled with ink and mist, intoxicated in innocence; bold and free, with abundant and vivid brushwork. Every painting comes from the twists and turns, yet there is no trace of deliberate effort, rich in meaning beyond the image, naturally perfect. The landscapes are elegant and refined. Mr. Wang Jie's paintings give us a sense of pleasure in ancient-style landscapes. To grasp the way of mountains and rivers, to follow nature, is true beauty.
