Gu Shih (Li Guoqiang), born in 1959, is from Beijing, his courtesy name is Gu Shi, his pseudonym is Muyuan Yishi, the owner of Runkun Studio, the founder of the Zen Literati Painting School, graduated from the Department of Chinese Calligraphy Art of Capital Normal University, studied under famous calligraphers such as Ouyang Zhongshi and Liu Bingsen, and was a disciple of teacher Feng Guoyu to study calligraphy, and was also a disciple of renowned painter Gao Shizun to learn painting. His main field of calligraphy is cursive script, and his calligraphy works have been published multiple times in national-level publications.

He has written calligraphy works for the postage stamp album issued by the China Post Office for the 20th anniversary of Sino-Thailand diplomatic relations. He has won awards in the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition, had his works selected for the Beijing regional calligraphy exhibition in the 6th National Calligraphy Competition, had his calligraphy and painting works selected for the 2nd "Paton Cup" National Painting and Calligraphy Competition, won the third prize in the national public welfare painting and calligraphy competition "Military-Civilian Integration Forges Glory & Join Hands to Realize the Chinese Dream", participated in the "Most Beautiful Xinjiang · Hua'er Changji" National Painting and Calligraphy Masters Invitation Exhibition, and won the third prize in calligraphy; many of his painting and calligraphy works have been collected by friends and museums at home and abroad. In 2016, he was selected into the postage stamp album of the World Outstanding Chinese Artists jointly issued by China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands. In 2016, he was selected into the Contemporary Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Inheritance Representative Figures Exhibition.
