Yingxu Grass Hall Master - Hu Zhendong
Personal Profile
Hu Zhendong was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu in 1971. His courtesy name is Jiangnan Chenren, his pseudonym is Jinggao Xianyun, and his other name is Zhiyin Caotang Zhu. He is currently a member of the China Painting and Calligraphy Art Committee, a member of the China Cultural Promotion Association, and a member of the Wuxi Calligraphers Association. His works have been published in newspapers and magazines such as China Economic Daily, China Reform News, and World Knowledge Picture Magazine. His works and biographies are included in books such as the Chinese Expert Talent Dictionary and the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Collection Classic.   The calligraphy of Teacher Hu Zhendong originates from the calligraphy art of ancient times, learning from various masters, cultivating the atmosphere of literati, doing things like leisurely clouds, admiring the actions of exalted people, envying the seclusion of hermits, thus forming a style of writing that has solid foundation and demonstrates his own characteristics. There is a sense of metal and stone in his characters, drawing on the essence of the works of great calligraphers of previous generations, but not bound by the styles of these masters. His regular script strokes, structure, and modeling seek flavor, which is worth savoring, fully demonstrating the breadth and charm of the writer. Through the diversity of brushstrokes, structure, and composition, the artistic beauty of calligraphy is enhanced, highlighting various changes such as tradition and innovation, strength and softness, void and reality, speed and slowness, thick and thin, coarse and fine, light and heavy, large and small, upright and slanted, sparse and dense, connected and broken, clumsy and skillful, boldness and elegance. These changes make calligraphy art reach a higher level. The works of Teacher Hu Zhendong have been highly evaluated and praised by senior painters and calligraphers and people in the same industry. His calligraphy is upright and elegant, especially using ink and water as symbols of noble character, integrity, elegance, perseverance, and incorruptibility, which are deeply loved by people, and his works are like poetry and songs.
