Wu Shan, member of the Beijing Artists Association, was born in 1942 in a famous artistic family in Suzhou. She graduated from the Beijing Institute of Arts and Crafts in 1961, and after graduation, she worked as an art designer in units under the Beijing Light Industry Bureau. She retired in 1992. After retirement, she joined the Beijing Artists Association in 2006. Participated in the "Chinese Modern Ink Painting Group Exhibition" in San Francisco, USA in 1988-1989. The work "Lotus and Mandarin Ducks" exhibited in 1988 received good reviews, and it was very popular among overseas Chinese in the US. In 1995, her ink painting "Mountain Wind" participated in the "Original Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Master Calligraphy and Painting Appreciation Exhibition." In 1996, her ink painting "Lotus and Egret in Autumn" was selected for the "Master Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition," which was exhibited at the China Art Museum and received good reviews. Several works of meticulous brushwork flower and bird paintings were published in the 29th and 30th issues of "Beijing Television Weekly" in 2014. For decades, she has continuously learned from famous artists and masters, drawing on the strengths of various masters to constantly explore and pursue a higher artistic realm. Her style is fresh and natural, with vibrant colors, and she has participated in many district and city-level art exhibitions multiple times.
