Liu Xingqian

Liu Xingqian, born in 1953, style name Haomeng, pseudonym Zihang. From Xinghua, Jiangsu. He was a student of Chinese Artists Association member Tang Zhizhen, Chai Jingzhen, Han Qing and famous painters Li Jiayuan, Kong Xiangyun, Wang Tian. He is currently a member of the Changping District Artists Association of Beijing, assistant to the president of the Jingbei Painting and Calligraphy Institute, member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Art Institute, member of the China Artists and Calligraphers Association, member of the Board of Directors of the Beijing Calligraphy and Painting Arts Creation Center, member of the Board of Directors of the Beijing Jinzhengde Painting and Calligraphy Academy, member of the Board of Directors of the China Calligraphers and Painters Federation, and member of the Art Aesthetics Research Society of the Beijing Culture Promotion Association.        He has studied Gongbi landscape, figure, and bird-and-flower painting, focusing on large freehand bird-and-flower and figure painting, especially skilled in painting chickens, known as the "Chicken King" in the military.        His works have been selected for national-level calligraphy and painting exhibitions and Beijing military and civilian exhibitions, and have won awards. Many of his works are collected by relevant units, enterprises and individuals in provinces and cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Hainan, etc. Eight of his works are collected by Chinese Chambers of Commerce and enterprises in countries and regions such as Spain, the United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, and Hong Kong, receiving unanimous praise.        Mr. Liu Xingqian adheres to the principle of drawing on the strengths of many masters, drawing nourishment from studying famous paintings and artists, absorbing various styles, and focusing on bird-and-flower painting and small figure paintings. Especially, his unique style in painting chickens. Starting with copying the famous works of Liu Kuiling, Huang Zhou, Wang Xue Tao, Ma Tianqi, Liu Jidi, Wang Zi Wu, Wang Zi Zhou, he dares to create and reform, creating his own unique style. To paint the head of a chicken well, he raised chickens himself, and when slaughtering them, he kept the heads and feet for careful study, striving to paint the head of a chicken well and capture its expression. He also explores the connotation of his works from the perspective of brushwork and viewpoint, using his deep military career as a backing, creating a series of excellent works, which have gained high recognition and widespread praise from the industry and society, achieving high artistic achievements. Many of his works are collected by celebrities in the film and television and cultural circles.        In 2019, the work "Happy Family" won the "Outstanding Work Award" at the National Master's Excellent Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition hosted by the Military Retirement Office of Haidian District.        In 2019, the work "Good Luck and Blessings" won the "Outstanding Work Award" at the exhibition of old cadres' calligraphy and painting works celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the country hosted by the Jingouhe Military Retirement Office of Haidian District.        In 2019, the work "Majestic Spirit" participated in the event held by Shougang Tourism and Culture Company... It was collected by the museum and won the "Outstanding Work Award".        In 2019, the work "A Family of Relatives" participated in the "Excellent Cultural Works Exhibition Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Country" hosted by the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Fengtai District, was included in the album and won the "Outstanding Award".        In 2019, the large-scale Gongbi painting "Pilgrimage" was selected by the "2019 - Great View of Guanyin Mountain" committee.        In 2020, three works, including "Under the Banana Plant", participated in the "Zhongkai Cup" National Master's Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition jointly held by the "One Belt, One Road" Network and the Jinzhengde Painting and Calligraphy Academy at the China Painting and Calligraphy Academy. All three works were collected by the museum, and "Under the Banana Plant" won the "Outstanding Work Award" and was selected for a national tour exhibition.        In 2020, three works, including "A Rooster Crows and the World Turns Bright", participated in the "Daqian Cup" National Masters Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, and the works were auctioned for poverty alleviation.        In 2020, the works "Blow off the Autumn Leaves, Open the Flowers of February", "Southern Winds", and "Majestic Spirit" won the "First Prize" at the "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Party" Masters Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, and were collected by the museum.
