Personal Profile
Liu Langqing is a painter at the Master Studio of Rongbaozhai Academy of Painting and a direct disciple of Master Huo Chunyang. Born in 1953, his ancestral home is Ningxiang, Changsha, Hunan Province. He pursued his education successively at Yishī Normal School of Hunan, Hunan Institute of Education, Hunan Normal University, and Hunan University. He has also undertaken advanced studies at more than ten renowned universities and training institutions within China. From childhood, he was instructed in painting by family tradition and repeatedly copied the "Jieziyuan Painting Manual," placing great emphasis on foundational skills such as sketching, perspective, color theory, and artistic anatomy. He has explored various genres including landscape, figure, and flower-and-bird painting, as well as media such as gouache, watercolor, and oil painting, with a particular passion for Chinese flower-and-bird painting.
He has studied under Professors Zeng Jingxiang and Wu Qiaosun, and Master Huo Chunyang. His work has been featured in special editions in publications such as Zhishi Bolan Bao, Reader, Guocui, Hebei Art, and Changzhutan City News (China's Renowned Personalities and Masters). His ink paintings have been exhibited in over a dozen national and local venues, including the National Museum of Ethnic Culture, the Ink Wash and Vermilion Gold Master Exhibition Hall of China Educational Television, the National Art Museum, the Guocui Art Museum, the National Convention Center, Hunan Provincial Exhibition Hall, Hunan Academy of Fine Arts, and Hunan Provincial Library, and have been published in dozens of newspapers and magazines.
His works have been collected by hundreds of collectors both domestically and internationally. His life and art have been featured in dedicated segments on China Educational Television Channel 1’s “Ink Wash and Vermilion Gold” program, Hong Kong Cable Television Channel 23, Gansu Satellite TV, and other television media. He currently resides in Beijing. He is a painter at the Master Studio of Rongbaozhai Academy of Painting, a member of the Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee of the Association for Cultural Exchange of Meritorious Military Leaders, a council member of the China Huaxia Wanli Xing Association of Painters and Calligraphers, a member of the Hong Kong Artists Association, a council member of the Changsha Flower-and-Bird Painters Association, a member of the Hunan Provincial Artists Association, a contracted artist of the “Ink Wash and Vermilion Gold” program of China Educational Television, and a State-Level First-Class Artist.
