Hu Guoliang, courtesy name Jingxin, art name Ankun, was born in Hunan Xiangtan. A former military officer, he now resides in Beijing. He is a Chinese young painter who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University. Since childhood, he has been passionate about painting and calligraphy. In the early 1990s, he became a disciple of Mr. Qi Fulai, the eldest grandson of the world cultural celebrity Qi Baishi, and is thus a third-generation direct inheritor of the Qi Baishi school. He diligently studied painting techniques and the artistic culture of Qi Baishi, receiving his master’s true transmission. Later, he studied calligraphy and stone carving under Master Yi Shangyuan, a renowned calligrapher from Hunan, focusing primarily on small seal script. After leaving the military, he moved to Beijing, where he received devoted instruction from the famous female painter and member of the Beijing Academy of Cultural History, Mr. Ge Yan, as well as from Mr. Li Binseng, a painter of opera characters and also a member of the Beijing Academy of Cultural History. Later, he had the fortune to meet his esteemed mentors, renowned landscape painters Mr. Chen Jun and Mr. Zheng Dongwei, who provided him with years of guidance, helping him develop a distinctive personal artistic style.He is currently a member of the Xiangtan Branch of the China Artists Association, Deputy Director of the Beijing Qi Baishi Art Gallery, Art Director of Artists' Home on National Art Network, and Director of the Painting and Calligraphy Center at Military Wives Network.
