Zhang Dongping, a native of Lengshuijiang City, Hunan Province, is a member of the China International Reportage Literature Research Association, a patriotic public welfare envoy, a inheritor of the "Great Nation Artisan Spirit" during the 70 years of national development, a model figure in passing down red genes, a practitioner of "Labor Is Most Glorious," a builder of the new era, a traditional Chinese art inheritor, National Art Model Figure of the Year 2019, a contemporary Chinese art figure, a Meritorious Artist celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, a model in carrying forward Premier Zhou Enlai's spirit, an outstanding patriotic public welfare figure, honored as a "Harmonious China New Era Striver," Art Figure of the Year 2018, a timeless artist, awarded the title of "Outstanding Contributor to Industry不忘初心 and Remembering the Mission" on the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, honored as a "Role Model of the Times" and the 16th China Public Welfare Image Ambassador during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, holder of the title "International Painting and Calligraphy Master," senior registered instructor of the China Calligraphers Association, National First-Class Painter, and senior painter of the Ministry of Culture. He first studied under renowned bird-and-flower painter Du Hongchang, beginning with bird-and-flower painting and later specializing in painting shrimps. He further studied figure painting under Li Fanfu and calligraphy under the famous calligrapher Yang Zhiheng, establishing a solid foundation in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. In 2016, he attended the Advanced Training Program on Bei Zong Landscape Painting taught by He Yanzhe, professor and master’s supervisor at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, he participated in the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Creation Training Program at the School of Arts, Renmin University of China. Over the years, he has deeply studied both Chinese and foreign art history, frequently engaging in field experiences and plein air sketching, accumulating rich life materials for his creations and unlocking a continuous source of inspiration. His artistic style integrates the strengths of various schools, incorporating poetry and calligraphy into painting, creating profound artistic conceptions with brushwork and ink that keep pace with the times. His works have been repeatedly selected for exhibitions and have won awards, attracting widespread attention and acclaim from society and multiple media outlets. His artworks such as "Ink Shrimp Painting" have been collected by the National Museum of China and numerous domestic and international art galleries and museums.
