Liu Qiguo, from Anhua, Hunan, is an associate professor. He is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphy Society, a member of the Hunan Provincial Calligraphers Association, and vice president of the Jin Gang Calligraphy and Painting Academy. He is also a member of the Chinese Association for Couplets, a member of the Hunan Provincial Poetry Society, deputy secretary-general of the Xiaoxiang Sanqu Society, and deputy director-general and secretary-general of the Meilu Poetry Society. He has been engaged in teaching and education for over thirty years. In 2005, he went to a college in Tianjin to teach calligraphy; in 2007, he held a personal calligraphy exhibition hosted by the Tianjin Art Museum, which was reported by four major newspapers including the Tianjin Daily and the Daily Xinbao. He has authored "The Art of Liu Qiguo's Calligraphy," "One Hundred Quatrains on Calligraphy," and "Collected Essays on Calligraphy," and has published more than 300 poems, essays, rhapsodies, and calligraphic works. Having received early family instruction, he began learning calligraphy at age six, initially studying Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, then transitioning to Wei stele inscriptions, and later embracing Han bamboo slips, synthesizing the strengths of various schools to form his own distinctive style. His works have been repeatedly selected and awarded in national competitions, or collected by institutions; among them, his monumental piece "Qinyuanchun · Changsha" was auctioned for 30,000 RMB at a charity gala for disaster relief and education funding, with all proceeds donated to a charitable foundation. His biography and works have been included in numerous reference collections.
