Personal Profile
Liu Shiqing, Qingyun Jushi, was born in 1967 in Hengnan County, Hunan. Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about poetry, calligraphy, and painting. Now in his fifties, he holds no prestigious title, has not achieved widespread recognition, nor gained fame; yet he works diligently. Though living in an urban setting, he is utterly enchanted by the world of ink and wash, losing himself in landscapes, flowers, and birds. Moved by this devotion, he has wielded his brush for over thirty years, yet has not produced any earth-shattering masterpieces. As he has grown older, his paintings have become increasingly plain, shedding much of their exotic fragrance and odd flavors—what remains is only sincerity and depth! Having forsaken the temptations of fame and profit, and grown weary from the physical and mental demands of painting and calligraphy, when his passion reaches its peak, he dances with joy, lost in ecstasy, like a wild, youthful madman—mountain after mountain, river after river—Chinese art knows no bounds, and great love knows no limits! Throughout his life, he has revered masters such as Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Wang Xue Tao, Zhao Shao'ang, and Liu Jiyong, and wishes only to remain a humble farmer-lover of art, asking for nothing more. He once studied under Mr. Deng Jiwen, a second-generation disciple of Qi Baishi. He is currently a member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Enthusiasts Association, Vice Secretary-General of the Hainan Qi Baishi Research Society, a member of the Wanquan River Calligraphy and Painting Society, a member of the Hainan Society of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting, and a contracted artist of Hainan Art Network. He has participated in numerous domestic exhibitions of renowned artists and has won several awards.
