Personal Profile

Zhang Tingfang, from Hubei Qichun County. Born in 1946, graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Central China Normal University in 1968. A national first-class playwright and first-class artist (calligraphy), retired from the Hubei Huangshi Art Creation Research Institute. He has created over 30 large-scale stage works that have been performed, published, or awarded, as well as more than 100 small plays and skits. He is a First-Class Art Committee Member of the Artists Department of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China; a specially appointed calligrapher and painter by the Cultural Market Development Center of the Ministry of Culture of China; a member and visiting professor of the Art Advisory Committee of the China National Museum Gallery; a specially invited committee member of the Editorial Board of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters; a contracted calligrapher and painter of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Calligraphy and Painting Network; Honorary President and visiting professor of the Chinese Taipei Palace Museum Calligraphy and Painting Academy; Honorary President of the August 1st China Painting Academy. Awarded the title of "Chinese Art Master" by the Chinese Art Masters Academy and the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters Research Association; honored as "Special Invited Calligraphy and Painting Master of the Zhonghua Guoli Center" by the Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse; and recognized as "Deputy Virtuous Calligrapher" by the 2015 CCTV Spring Festival Gala Press Conference. His calligraphy works have been exhibited and auctioned domestically and internationally, printed on postage stamps, stamp albums, postcards, and applied to art products such as jade, porcelain, purple clay, and Suzhou embroidery. Currently, he is a specially recommended artist for state gifts of the State Council and enjoys a government allowance as an expert with outstanding contributions.
