Personal Profile
Liang Wei, art name Liang Shan, is from Shiyan, Hubei Province, and works as a senior high school professional teacher with long-term experience in teaching fine arts fundamentals for normal and high school students. He is a member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association and a member of the Hubei Mao Ti Research Society. He began learning calligraphy under family tutelage and has spent years practicing at the inkstone. In his calligraphy instruction, he starts students with Tang dynasty regular script, studying the styles of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan. He skillfully guides students in mastering brush techniques, character structure principles, compositional layout, and seal imprinting. In teaching, he emphasizes the integration of theory and practical experience, reinforcing foundational skills through diligent copying of steles and rubbings, thereby cultivating profound artistic cultivation in both calligraphy and painting. He admires the serene and natural beauty of the "Two Wangs" calligraphic style. His painting subjects are diverse, with a particular fondness for landscapes. He loves traveling to experience the "naturalness" of heaven and earth. He holds a special affection for classical motifs in traditional Chinese flower-and-bird painting, especially plum blossoms and bamboo. The steadfast integrity of plum blossoms serves as a source of inspiration for my creative endeavors; painting bamboo is not only an expressive manifestation of line art in its most fluid and vigorous form, but also a reflection of one's moral character and spirit—just as bamboo embodies quiet humility, so too should we cultivate a tranquil and empty heart, finding emotional resonance within the void and spaciousness beyond the illusions of worldly existence.
