 Yuan Guoqing, known by his art name Yi Gai, is a wanderer from Dongchu and Eastern Hubei. He is the master of Qingyun Studio. Han Chinese. Born in 1955 at the foot of the Dabie Mountains — Hubei Wuxue City, Yuchuan Town, Shuangcheng Township. Due to his father’s military background, the entire family moved to Huangshi City, Hubei in 1960 and settled there; thus, he has since lived in this emerging industrial metropolis. Since childhood, he has been passionate about calligraphy, painting, and poetry. In 1988, he graduated from the Department of Literature at Renmin University of China. Subsequently, he became a private disciple under the renowned international calligrapher and painter Cao Li’an, a member of the China Artists Association, president of the Huanghe Tower Calligraphy and Painting Society, and a close friend of Chairman Mao Zedong, for a six-month intensive training period. He is currently a member of the Huangshi City Calligraphy Association, a member of the China Calligraphers Association, a member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Association, a member of the China International Craftsmen Association, an academician of the China Jiuzhou Fenglin International Academy of Fine Arts, an academician of the Jiangxi Calligraphy and Painting Academy of China Public Welfare Network, a senior calligraphy and painting master of the China Research Institute of Fine Arts and Calligraphy, vice chairman of the China International Calligraphy and Painting Association, and a contracted artist of the "Ink and Wash Danqing" Academy on CCTV Education Channel. In recent years, his artistic achievements have won over ten gold awards in national and international exhibitions, and his works have been published on domestic and international postage stamps and stamp albums issued by China Post.
