Personal Profile

Hu Wenlin, style name Enyuan, was born in 1963 in Qichun County, Hubei Province—a county renowned for its scholars. With a university education and having received early family training, he began practicing calligraphy at the age of eight, continuously dedicating himself to brushwork and studying steles and calligraphic models. He excels in running script, cursive script, Ouyang-style regular script, clerical script, and seal script, and is a highly influential middle-aged calligrapher in contemporary China. For over two decades, he has devoted himself to the study of calligraphic art and has been honored with the following titles: ◎ National First-Class Calligrapher ◎ National First-Class Artist in Fine Arts ◎ First-Class Member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Research Association ◎ Member of the China International Celebrity Culture Research Association ◎ Member of Hubei Branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association ◎ Contracted Calligrapher with CCTV's "Ink Splashing China" – Ink and Wash Art Program ◎ Currently serves as President of Aidu Calligraphy and Painting Academy He has studied under renowned calligraphers from Hubei Province, including Mr. Shi Xunan, famous calligrapher Mr. Jin Boxing, the late master calligrapher Mr. Chen Yijing, and many other distinguished artists. His works have participated in numerous national and international calligraphy competitions and have won various awards; ◎ In 2002, he won the Silver Award at the National Calligraphy Exhibition celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the army, hosted by China International Art Exhibition; ◎ In September 2002, he was awarded the title of "Top Ten" at the Hubei Province Chutian Star Cup Calligraphy and Painting Competition; ◎ In October 2016, his calligraphy and painting works were recognized with the title "Pioneer of the Times" in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China; his works were collected by China Post Network and issued nationwide as commemorative stamp albums; ◎ In 2017, he received the title of Influential Calligrapher by China HAObRAND; ◎ Invited consecutively in 2018 and 2019 to participate in CCTV's "Ink Splashing China" Calligraphy and Painting Spring Festival Gala! A large number of his works have been collected by friends at home and abroad, major enterprises, well-known temples, and other institutions.
