Wang Xiulong, born in 1944, graduated from the Chinese Painting program at Hubei Academy of Fine Arts. He studied under the renowned centenarian painter Duanmu Mengxi (a disciple of Qi Baishi), and received direct instruction from Professors Zhang Zhenduo and Shao Shenglang. With over 50 years of experience in art education and creation, he has been appointed as a senior instructor by multiple universities, awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award by Hubei Provincial Elderly University, repeatedly honored as an outstanding teacher by the Hubei Military District Elderly Cadres University, and recognized by the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Wuhan Municipal Government with the title of Advanced Elderly Worker. He has published numerous articles on fine arts in newspapers and magazines; Tianjin Yangliuqing Publishing House specially published his book "Techniques of Freehand Ink Plum Blossom Painting," distributed nationwide. His artworks have been exhibited in major art exhibitions, and he is a member of the Hubei Artists Association. His biography is included in the large reference work "Dictionary of Contemporary Painters, Calligraphers, and Seal Carvers," and in September 2019, he was officially listed on the Encyclopedia of Painters and Calligraphers.
