Li Wenyi (style name Yaxing Jushi), born in 1975, is a native of Daye, Hubei Province and a National First-Class Artist. He serves as President of Guanya Academy at the Hubei Calligraphers and Artists Association, Chairman of Hubei Guanya Culture Investment Co., Ltd., member of Wuhan Calligraphers Association, council member of Hubei Calligraphers and Artists Association, Deputy Secretary-General of China Calligraphy Academy, Deputy Secretary-General of Hubei Cultural Industry Chamber of Commerce, and guest professor at Wuhan University of Technology Huaxia College.
Mr. Li Wenyi is a second-generation disciple of the renowned Chinese art master Deng Shaofeng. Engaged in calligraphy for over thirty years, he currently serves as Executive Director of the Wudang Tai Chi Culture Communication and Exchange Center and founder of the Hubei Ancient Architecture Art Research Association. His works are widely collected by numerous institutions both domestically and overseas and are highly acclaimed. Whether in running script, cursive, clerical, or seal script, Li’s works appear fresh, vibrant, and visually stunning. His brushwork is powerful and crisp, full of creativity, combining rounded and angular strokes with varied use of concealed and exposed tips, resulting in rich texture and three-dimensional depth. His characters display clear strength and elegance, with well-balanced spacing and harmonious composition. His works embody the principle of "embedding innovation within tradition and expressing profound insight within rules," offering delightful subtleties that captivate viewers and enhance any collection. Overall, Mr. Li's calligraphy integrates the strengths of various schools while continuously refining his own artistic pursuit.
In January 2019, he won the Gold Award at the First National New Literati Calligraphy and Painting Masters Exhibition; was named one of China's Top 100 Calligraphers; and recognized as a Notable Figure in Chinese Art and Wealth. In June 2019, he was listed in Art Encyclopedia and included in the publication "Dictionary of World Artists."
