Personal Profile

Resume: Xiang Desong, courtesy name Ru Niu, male. Born in 1949 in Xiantao City, Hubei Province. Graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Hubei Institute of Arts in 1972. Completed the Advanced Research Class on Figure Painting led by Liu Dawei at Capital Normal University in 2017, and is a painter at Liu Dawei’s studio. Completed studies at Blue Sky Art Gallery in 2018. Currently a full-time painter at Wenbaozhai Painting and Calligraphy Garden in Dalian, Liaoning Province. Studied under masters Huang Zhou, Liu Dawei, Chen Rong, Wang Mi, Tang Wenxuan, Bai Xueshi, Guo Chuanzhang, Liu Fenglin, Leng Zhimin, Ju Zhanpu, Shao Shenglang, and other renowned teachers. Currently a National First-Class Artist, member of the Hubei Provincial Artists Association, council member of the Xiantao City Artists Association, council member of the China Traditional Culture Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Association, member of the China Painters Association, council member of the Dalian Branch of the China Calligraphers and Painters Federation, member of the World Association of Chinese Overseas Artists, and advisor to the Dalian Youth Calligraphers and Painters Association. In 2017, participated in the “Chinese Contemporary Masterpieces Exhibition: Celebrating the 19th CPC National Congress, Building a Strong Nation Dream” and was awarded the Special Gold Medal, as well as honored with the “Outstanding Achievement Award for Artists of the People’s Republic of China” and the “Medal of Artistic Excellence for Masters of the People’s Republic of China.”
