Li Juzhou, born in 1965 in Anyang, Henan Province—the ancient capital of seven dynasties and the birthplace of Oracle Bone Script—currently resides in Beijing. Since childhood, he has shown a profound interest in calligraphy, studied Confucian classics, Tang and Song poetry, and extensively examined ancient and modern calligraphy masterpieces, accumulating deep cultural foundations. Through the introduction of Director Zhang Xuequan of the Central Guard Bureau and Zhang Yi of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, he had the honor of becoming a disciple of Master Wang Hongjun. Under his master’s meticulous instruction and strict discipline, he mastered all styles of calligraphy, especially excelling in seal script and Mao-style calligraphy, while thoroughly studying ancient and modern literature and dedicating great effort to tracing the origins of Chinese literature, reaching up to Mao’s style and extending down to the Qing dynasty scholars. His diligence surpassed that of ordinary practitioners, honing extraordinary skills. He deeply understands that artistic cultivation lies in tranquility and detachment; before his style matured, he secluded himself for many years to intensely study calligraphy and refrained from participating in numerous social activities or pursuing titles prematurely. He firmly believes that one must give up something to gain something else, and thus his calligraphy skills advanced by leaps and bounds, forming his own distinctive style—graceful yet vigorous, weighty and rugged, powerful like aged wine, leaving a lasting aftertaste, earning admiration from the calligraphy community and an excellent reputation. Many of his works have been collected by foreign embassies, museums, provincial and national art galleries, international figures, and overseas friends.
