Feng Guotang formerly served as Chairman of the Seventh and Eighth Committees of the Ye County Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is a member of the China Calligraphers Association, Vice Chairman of the China Calligraphy Exchange Association, Honorary President of the Beijing Longbaozhai Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Distinguished Professor at Zhengzhou University, President of the Ye County Yanhuang Culture Research Association, and President of the Ye County Cultural Industry Promotion Association.

      Feng Guotang’s calligraphic art is expansive and bold, majestic and rustic, rooted in tradition yet innovative, with a unique style. He has participated in and won awards in numerous national competitions. Notably, he was awarded the First Prize in the National Calligraphy Competition hosted by the Cultural Art Research Institute of the Ministry of Culture to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1999, and the Gold Award in the 2005 National Exhibition “Love My China—Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.” In January 2007, his collection “Selected Works of Feng Guotang’s Calligraphy,” personally recommended by Zhang Hai, Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association, was published. In May, he held a personal calligraphy exhibition at the Henan Provincial Museum. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he successfully held another solo calligraphy exhibition at the China National Art Museum, becoming the second calligrapher from Henan Province since Chairman Zhang Hai to hold a solo exhibition in China’s highest artistic venue since the founding of the PRC. In 2008 and 2009, he was invited to conduct calligraphy exchanges in South Korea and Japan; his works were selected for the 12th and 13th International Calligraphy Exhibitions in South Korea and are collected by the Korean National Museum. In 2009 and 2010, China Post issued “Feng Guotang Calligraphy Collection Postcards” and “Feng Guotang Calligraphy Stamp Collectors’ Album,” both of which were designated as museum artifacts by the Pingdingshan City Museum. To date, hundreds of his works have been collected by institutions in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, America, and UNESCO.
