Personal Profile

Li Haiwen, styled Yifeng, known as Taixing Recluse, master of Guose Tang, Heming Studio, and Hanyuan Study, was born in 1962 in Hebi City, Henan Province. He has been passionate about painting and calligraphy since childhood, often sketching from nature in rural fields and villages. He specializes in Chinese painting, particularly bird-and-flower paintings. In recent years, he has created a large number of works that have won multiple awards in national and provincial-level art exhibitions. His works and biography have been included in numerous large-scale art albums and published in professional journals at or above the provincial level. His works are collected by numerous institutions and individuals both domestically and internationally. He is currently a council member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association, a member of the Henan Branch of the China Artists Association, a member of the Henan Bird-and-Flower Painting Research Society, a senior researcher at the China General and Minister Calligraphy and Painting Academy, vice chairman of the Qibin Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association in Hebi City, a specially invited painter at the Songyang Calligraphy and Painting Academy of Henan, and a council member of the Hejin Painting Academy of Shanxi Province. His work "Striking the Waves" won the "Bronze Award" at the First Hebi City Bird-and-Flower Painting Exhibition in 2003. His work "National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance" won the "Bronze Award" at the 2004 China Calligraphy and Painting Masters New Works Exhibition and was awarded the honorary title of "Contemporary Outstanding Calligrapher and Painter." His work "Picture of Wealth and Honor" won the "Third Prize" at the Second "Chinese Celebrity" National Art Exhibition in 2005. His work "Song of Youth" won the "First Prize" at the Ren Bonian Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Competition in 2006. His works "National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance," "Symbol of Harvest," "Bountiful Year," and "Full of Gold and Jade" won "Excellent Awards" at the 11th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Henan Province New Works Exhibitions, respectively. His work "Majestic Spirit Soaring into the Sky" won the "Bronze Award" at the 2013 National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Xi Zhongxun. His work "Together Through the Golden Autumn" was selected for the 2015 Henan Province Bird-and-Flower Art Exhibition.
