Personal Profile
Wang Jiamai, female, art name: Meizi, born in 1982 in Nanyang, Henan Province. She is currently a specially invited painter at Yaji Xuan Art Gallery and a disciple of the nationally renowned "peony" ink painting master, Master Sun Zhiwu. From a young age, Meizi adhered to her family's teachings; by fate, she was fortunate to receive early guidance from Master Tang Yurun, a master of bird-and-flower ink painting known as the "Tang Peony," and under his tutelage, she honed her foundational skills for many years. After adulthood, she continued to follow Master Sun Zhiwu closely, studying through copying and creation, deeply benefiting from his meticulous instruction and absorbing the strengths of various masters. Her artistic philosophy is guided by the timeless wisdom of the modern master Qi Baishi: "Those who learn from me will live; those who merely imitate me will die." Meizi further embraces the creative principle of "learning from antiquity without imitating it, using the past to open the present," integrating the strengths of five great masters—Wu (Changshuo), Qi (Baishi), Wang (Xuetao), Tang (Yurun), and Sun (Zhiwu)—into her long-term study and creation of expressive peony ink paintings.
As a young painter, Meizi's works are currently in a phase of artistic growth, with her creative skills continuously improving. Yet she maintains a "zero mindset," constantly exploring and learning. She holds herself to the highest standards, striving to reach new heights in her artistic career, thereby endowing her works with greater artistic vitality and higher artistic value!
