Chen Wuwei, styled Wuwei, also known as Heluo Lang and Hequ Xiansheng, master of Bugu Zhai. Hailing from Henan Yanshi, he is the Dean of the Chinese Xuanzang Institute of Calligraphy and Painting, Deputy Director of the Luoyang Creation Center of "People's Art," Deputy Chief Editor of the special issue "Chan Studies in Calligraphy" published by the China Calligraphers Association, a contracted artist of the Ziguang Pavilion Art Academy in Beijing, Vice President of the Wenwu Jue Painting Academy, and Director of the Wenwu Jue Luoyang Art Museum. Since childhood, he has been gifted and passionate about painting, meticulously studying and practicing techniques with unwavering dedication for years, immersing himself in the research and creation of peony paintings. During this time, he studied in the Advanced Research Class of Bird-and-Flower Painting at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, where he received guidance from distinguished masters, significantly advancing his skills. His painting style draws inspiration from nature and follows the principles of creation, integrating the realistic techniques of Western art into traditional Chinese painting to capture the form and spirit of peonies—using flowers to represent people, express emotions, and convey aspirations. His calligraphy follows tradition, emulating Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, studying Han clerical script, researching Wei stele inscriptions, and copying the styles of Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, synthesizing multiple schools into a unique and distinctive style. Later, he became a disciple of the renowned calligrapher Master Chunyi, deepening his study of calligraphy and Sinology, absorbing broad scholarly knowledge, standing out with remarkable literary and artistic achievements. He has participated in numerous national calligraphy and painting competitions, winning multiple awards; his paintings and calligraphy have been widely published in domestic magazines and overseas media, earning high praise from scholars, experts, and collectors.
