 Personal Profile

Yan Xuelei, styled Shitian, also known as Tian Zeng and Shi Zhen, is from Shangqiu City, Henan Province. He is a member of the Dalian Zhongshi Calligraphy and Painting Association and the Shangqiu Artists Association. In 2016, he graduated from Tianjin University of Commerce, where he received the Outstanding Graduation Creation Award and a commemorative award for remaining at the university. In 2015, he won the Outstanding Award at the Joint Traveling Exhibition of Artworks by Universities in Tianjin. In 2016, he received the Outstanding New Talent Award at the First Shangqiu Fine Arts Exhibition. In 2017, he placed third in the Third "Qunxing Award" of Shangqiu. His works "Mandarin Ducks Playing in Water" and "Red Lotus" are collected by the Hongyuan Art and Culture Museum of China. Chinese painting, after thousands of years of profound transformation, continues to radiate artistic charm today, offering a sense of perpetual freshness—constantly new with each viewing. The fundamental reason lies in its indescribably quintessential Chinese essence. After water dries on rice paper, the traces it leaves behind form an entirely "transparent" painting—a water-and-blank-space technique fundamentally distinct from Western painting.
