Zhao Feiyang was born in 1982 in Nanyang, Henan and currently resides in Zhengzhou.He was initially drawn to the power and weightiness of Yan-style calligraphy, and subsequently devoted himself wholeheartedly to studying the Many Treasures Pagoda Stele.When appreciating Zhao Feiyang’s calligraphy, the most striking impression is one of stillness,as if the brushstrokes flow effortlessly and unbroken across the paper.The movement of his brush on the paper is serene and unbroken, profoundly calm, rich, and steady; one can sense the tranquility of his mindset while writing, a true pleasure.His works vary in scale, from large to small, and balance stillness with movement, striving for simplicity, weightiness, and rhythmic harmony. Building upon a solid foundation in traditional techniques, he fully unleashes his imagination, integrating modern aesthetic sensibilities into certain rhythms and sentiments of traditional art.On his path of learning calligraphy, he deeply understands that learning has no endpoint and art has no limit; one must calm the mind, lower oneself, sit still, and sit long—adhering steadfastly to tradition and diligent copying.Only by absorbing strengths, compensating for weaknesses, carefully contemplating, and persistently pursuing can one finally reap the fruits.
