Personal Profile
       Xu Guoyin, male, native of Shangcai, Henan, member of the Communist Party of China, and a teacher by profession. He is passionately devoted to calligraphy, regarding it as his sole hobby. His regular script is rooted in the Ouyang style, while his running and cursive scripts follow the tradition of the Two Wangs, supplemented by studying the strengths of various other masters.    Currently holds the following positions: Member of the Chinese Buddhist Calligraphy Committee, Bachelor of Chinese Zen Art, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Culture and Art Research Association, Chief Consultant of China Calligraphy and Painting Information Network, Executive Director and Honorary President of Henan Jinwang Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Academician of China Jian Guang Calligraphy Academy, Academician of China Huaxia Wanlihang Calligraphy Academy, Visiting Professor at Oxford Art College, Member of the China Calligraphers Association and its Henan Branch, and Member of the World Chinese Calligraphers Association.        His calligraphy work "Heart Sutra" was collected by the Thai Royal Family in 2015 as a state gift during the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations. In 2015, he was honored as one of the "Top Ten Figures of the Year 2015" in the "National Top 500 Calligraphy and Painting Competition." In 2015, at the Beijing Great Hall of the People, he was awarded the title of "China's Most Outstanding Contemporary Calligrapher" by the "China Era Style Selection Activity." In July 2016, CCTV awarded him the title of "China Good Brand Art Personality - Calligrapher with Brand Influence." In August 2016, his calligraphy was selected for inclusion in the commemorative stamp album celebrating the 37th anniversary of China-U.S. diplomatic relations, featuring outstanding Chinese artists from both countries. In August 2016, CCTV conferred upon him the honor of "Contemporary Master Calligrapher." In September 2016, he participated in the inaugural "Shuyuan Dianjing" advanced training program at the National Open University. In December 2016, he was included in the talent database of the Ministry of Culture's Cultural Arts Center.        In May 2017, he was selected by the China Good Brand Art Personalities List as "Brand Influence Art Ambassador." In May 2017, his calligraphy work was permanently collected by CCTV. In September 2017, his calligraphy works were collected by the Canadian and Swedish branches of the World Traditional Culture Research Institute. In December 2017, his works were featured on postage stamps issued in the United States, France, the Netherlands, and other countries, and exhibited twice on European tours. His works were exhibited at the Beijing Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition and collected by the Canada World Friendship Festival. In 2018, he was specially recommended by the National Two Sessions as a "People’s Artist" and selected by People's Daily as "People’s Favorite Calligraphy and Painting Artist." In October 2018, he was awarded the title of "Artistic New Talent Honoring Seventy Years of China" by the China Culture into Ten Thousand Homes Working Committee. In November 2018, his works were approved for listing on the U.S. Property Rights and Culture Exchange. In December 2018, his work "Heart Sutra" was collected by the Scripture Pavilion of Shaolin Temple on Mount Song. His calligraphy was selected for the 2019 Beijing TV Spring Festival Gala. In July 2019, his calligraphy works and biography were reported by Xinhua Net and CCTV.com. He has repeatedly won gold, silver, and first prizes in national-level calligraphy competitions.
