Zheng Xizhi, art name Zheng Chuanqiao, born in 1972, native of Xixia, Henan, resides in Zhengzhou and long-term lives in Beijing.

He has loved fine arts since childhood, deeply fascinated by painting and calligraphy, skilled in observation and imitation, passionate about natural landscapes, flowers, plants, and trees. Often accompanied by sun and moon, dancing with mountains and rivers, appreciating the enchanting beauty of nature, savoring its exquisite essence, immersed in the joy of painting and calligraphy, lingering without thought of returning, forgetting meals and sleep. No matter how difficult life becomes, his passion for painting and calligraphy remains unwavering, never abandoning his original aspirations.

Mr. Zheng has been diligently practicing brushwork for decades, using ancient and modern masterpieces as references, studying hard under guidance from contemporary renowned artists, apprenticing under Mr. Zheng Baiqiao—the eighth-generation inheritor of Zheng Banqiao’s legacy—who currently serves as Secretary-General of the Central Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting and Calligraphy. Under the careful instruction of his mentor and楷script master Zhang Ruiling, he has deeply studied the works of Zheng Banqiao, Li Keran, Pan Tianshou, Zhang Daqian, Fan Zeng, and other modern masters, gaining profound insights. Grounded in the depiction of Zheng Banqiao-style bamboo, he has specialized in bamboo painting for decades, creating richly diverse and vividly varied depictions of bamboo, gradually forming a unique artistic style.

Mr. Zheng excels in painting Banqiao-style bamboo, peonies, grapes, figures, landscapes, flowers, birds, insects, and fish. His artworks have received unanimous acclaim from audiences at home and abroad, collected by prominent domestic figures, international friends, and art collectors from Malaysia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and elsewhere.

On cross-strait cultural exchange in painting and calligraphy, newspaper editor Ms. Zhang Shuping composed a poem:

Bamboo paintings amaze both sides of the strait,

Snow bamboo's elegance stuns all who see.

Noble character praised through ages past,

Chuanqiao's art stands out, captivatingly free.

Dr. Wei Peihan, medical doctor and expert, composed a poem: “Reflections on Appreciating Zheng Chuanqiao’s Traditional Chinese Paintings”.

Without meat one still needs bamboo,

Only with emotion can one truly create.

One river links two shores together,

Five hundred million souls bloom with delicate grace.
