 Li Junfeng, styled Fuyun, also known as Yunmengshan Ren and "Shutang Li San," is originally from Luoyang, Henan. Born into a scholarly family, he graduated from the Chinese Department of Henan University and furthered his studies at the Advanced Training Program of the Calligraphy Department of the China Academy of Art. He currently resides in Chaoyang, Beijing, and works at the magazine *Chinese Calligraphers and Painters*. He is now a member of the China Calligraphers Association, a member of the Chinese Poetry Society, a member of the Chinese Calligraphy History Research Association, Executive President of the Chinese Cadre Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, a council member of the Chinese Great Wall Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, an appointed calligrapher of the Chinese Great Wall Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, a contracted calligrapher with Beijing Rongbaozhai, a contracted calligrapher with Guangzhou Century Gallery, former editor-in-chief of *Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Market News*, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of *Chinese Calligraphers and Painters* magazine, and cultural advisor for *China Party Journal Network*.
From childhood, influenced by family teachings, he developed a passion for calligraphy. He began with Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan's styles, then studied Han Dynasty clerical script and Wei steles, focusing primarily on Wang Duo and Mi Fu. He has also studied calligraphy theory extensively, delving into calligraphy copyright, poetry, couplets, and related fields. Integrating both stele and帖 (model letter) traditions, he learns from multiple masters, deeply comprehending the subtleties of calligraphy. He excels in poetry and prose, specializes in large-character (bangshu) calligraphy, is proficient in critique, and skilled in connoisseurship. His calligraphic style inherits tradition while expressing freedom, vigor, spontaneity, and boldness—distinct from ancient predecessors and contemporaries alike. His works have been selected and awarded numerous times in major exhibitions hosted by institutions such as the Ministry of Culture, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the China Calligraphers Association. They have been exhibited successively in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Auditorium, Zhongnanhai, Beijing Museum, Military Museum, Shenzhen Museum, Xiamen Museum, Guangzhou Museum, and Zhang Hai Art Gallery. Over 30 academic papers have been published in periodicals such as *Calligraphy Guide Daily*, *Calligraphy Newspaper*, *Charm of China*, and *Heluo Wind*. He has published several books including *Collected Calligraphy Works of Li Junfeng*, *Selected Calligraphy Essays of Li Junfeng*, *Selected Poems and Writings of Li Junfeng*, *Nine Discourses on Appreciating Calligraphy*, and *Chinese Xi Clan*. His calligraphy works and writings have been reported by nearly 100 domestic media outlets including *Calligraphy Guide Daily*, *Calligraphy Newspaper*, *Chinese Calligraphy*, *Heluo Wind*, *Charm of China*, *Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Daily*, *International Business Daily*, *Dahe Daily*, *Oriental Today*, China News Service, China Economic Net, Phoenix News, CNR Online, China Calligraphy and Painting Art Network, China Cultural Arts Network, China Rural Cultural Industry Network, China Yellow River Calligraphy and Painting Network, Pangu Net, and Dahe Net, receiving high attention and favor from both the professional sector and collectors. His calligraphy has been engraved by the Beijing Badaling New Great Wall Organizing Committee with the inscriptions: “Snakes Dance in Snow upon the Great Wall” and “Horses Neigh in the Northern Wind.” Mr. Song Chu-yu, Chairman of Taiwan’s People First Party, collected his work and composed a couplet incorporating his name: “Junjie batsui hanmo yangfen, fenggao qingyun tian dao chouqin” (“Outstanding talent shines through brushwork; lofty peaks reach the clouds—diligence is rewarded by heaven”). He was named by Hong Kong International Auction Co., Ltd. as one of the most promising artistic investment figures of the 21st century and recognized as a leading contemporary master of authentic calligraphy. Professor Guo Xuebin, Director of the China Calligraphers Association and President of the China Academy of Cultural Arts, described him as: “proficient in poetry and prose, skilled in large-character calligraphy, strong in theory, and adept in criticism—a truly ‘scholar-type’ calligrapher of our time.” Wang Rongsheng, Director of the China Calligraphers Association and Editor-in-Chief of *Calligraphy Guide Daily*, commented on his calligraphy: “Powerful brushwork, archaic character structures, exquisite ink techniques, and profound artistic conception reveal unique insights and solid foundations, creating a sublime realm akin to poetry without words, dance without form, painting without image, and music without sound.” Renowned calligrapher Yang Kunbing (a judge for national exhibitions) praised his work: “Strong lines, balanced structure, rich ink usage, free composition, and integration of stele and model traditions mark him as a great master of traditional calligraphy today.” Mr. Yang Qianshi, known as “Lord with a Fine Beard,” noted his distinctive style: “Skillfully combines Wang Duo’s lines, Wei stele structures, and Mi Fu’s expressive depth to form a unique artistic identity.” Famous calligrapher Fan Chuanfu, 27th-generation direct descendant of Fan Zhongyan, stated that his running script has reached the highest artistic level of “same character, different appearance; same stroke, different form.”
