 Zheng Songshan, courtesy name Xishui, formerly known as Zheng Ming, was born in 1963 in Dengzhou, Henan. He began learning painting at the age of 6. In 1984, he was admitted to the Chinese Painting Department of the Art Faculty at Nanyang Normal University, where he received patient and meticulous guidance from professors such as Zhu Jianfeng, Qiao Xiyang, Cao Dongbo, Qiu Dejing, Huang Yafeng, and Liu Tailei. He graduated with outstanding academic performance and has remained at the university as faculty ever since. Over his 30-year teaching career, he has cultivated over 10,000 art talents for society and has received broad recognition from all sectors of society.
Currently holds the positions: Member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, Member of Henan Branch of China Artists Association, Director of Henan Youth Artists Association, Member of Henan Artists Association, Vice Chairman of Nanyang Wando Literary and Art Federation, President of Nanyang Silk Road Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Researcher of Nanyang Han Dynasty Painting Association, National First-Class Artist, Professor at Nanyang Normal University, Initiator of Nanyang Painters’ Village, and Contracted Artist of Yuefengtang Calligraphy and Painting Academy. His works have been selected for numerous domestic and international calligraphy and painting exhibitions, and are collected by multiple art institutions and international friends. Many of his landscape paintings have been included in the “Collection of Works by Contemporary Chinese Celebrities and Masters.” He has published the monograph “Sketching,” and has held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and other cities.
