Chen Mingqin, a native of Linzhou City, Henan Province, is known by the elegant pseudonym “I Do as I Please.” She studied under Master Yan Shi and is a student of Xie Mei Pavilion. She specializes in traditional Chinese paintings of plum blossoms and peonies. Since childhood, she has been fond of calligraphy and painting. Under the guidance of Teacher Yan, she gained new insights into the techniques of painting plum blossoms, achieved breakthroughs in her skills, and developed her own unique artistic style. In recent years, as plum blossoms hold an important place in traditional Chinese culture, they have been especially cherished and admired by people since ancient times. Plum blossoms embody the spirit of the times—their resilience and tenacious striving spirit have inspired generation after generation of Chinese people. Representative works of plum blossoms include “Red Plum Blossoms Herald Spring” and “Fragrant Snow,” while representative peony works include “Flowers Bloom for Prosperity” and “National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance.”
