Personal Profile

Calligrapher Liu Wantai, born in 1944 in Chaoyang Town, Mengjin County, graduated from the Chinese Department of Henan Normal University, studied under teacher Wang Jianmin, and worked in education for many years. After retirement, due to his deep love for calligraphy, he studied numerous stele scripts, especially favoring the Ouyang style. He received guidance from masters Shen Peng and Fan Zeng, which greatly improved his calligraphic artistry. He has participated multiple times in national, provincial, and municipal calligraphy exhibitions, frequently winning gold medals and first prizes, including awards from the 23rd, 24th, and 25th Henan Provincial Mass Calligraphy Exhibitions, the gold medal at the 5th National "Kang Youwei" Cup Calligraphy Exhibition, and the first prize at the 7th "Yanhuang Cup" International Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Art Competition. He is currently a member of the Luoyang Calligraphers Association, Henan Calligraphers Association, Beijing Large-Character Calligraphy Association, and Chairman of the Chaoyang Branch of Mengjin County Calligraphers Association.
