Li Fugui has been passionate about calligraphy since childhood. He began studying regular script with Yan Zhenqing, extensively learning from Liu Gongquan and Ouyang Xun; practiced running script following the Two Wangs, and is obsessed with Mi Fu's brushwork: his style combines Yan Zhenqing’s robustness, Liu Gongquan’s strength, and Wang Duo’s soft, connected strokes—creating dynamic, fluid compositions with unified momentum and exquisite structure, offering viewers visual delight and inspiring spiritual resonance.
Characteristics of his works: Overall, they adopt Mi Fu’s brush intent—possessing the speed of “brush-writing,” bold and unrestrained, yet also featuring soft, connected strokes with continuous, unified momentum and exquisite composition. His character construction reflects profound mastery of Yan and Liu’s regular script, occasionally infused with Wang Duo’s stylistic elements. Integrating strengths from various masters, he captures the subtle delights of calligraphy, expressing the calligrapher’s emotions and enhancing the visual impact, artistic charm, and emotional resonance of his works!
